Marija Marić was a research fellow at the LOEWE research cluster “Architectures of Order” in 2020. Her work has been organized at the intersection of architecture, urban design and media studies, focusing on the production of the built environment in the context of global capitalism and the global flow of information. In 2020, she completed her doctoral studies at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich. Her thesis, titled “Real Estate Fiction. Branding Industries and the Construction of Global Urban Imaginaries”, analyzed the role of communication strategists in design, mediation and globalization of built environment. Marija Marić’s research has been presented internationally and published in journals and magazines including Thresholds, Log, ARCH+, CARTHA, and others. During her stay at Goethe University in Frankfurt, she will conduct research on the role of advertising language in the construction of ‘smart cities,’ both as models of urban development and narrative typologies.
