Susanna Thelen studied architecture, art history, and archaeological studies in Aachen, Bochum, and Marburg. During her studies, she gained experience during internships at the Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma (2011), and at the Photographic Collection of the Bibliotheca Hertziana (2014). Furthermore, in 2014, she took part in the study course at the Bibliotheca Hertziana on the topic “Villen und Landsitze des 16. Jahrhunderts in Oberitalien: Architektur und Wandmalerei”. From 2016 to 2019, she was a research assistant at Foto Marburg in the DFG-funded project “Die Architekturzeichnungen des Hessischen Staatsarchivs Marburg”. She wrote her master’s thesis, titled “Die Kirche San Flaviano in Montefiascone” at the Philipps University of Marburg. Susanna Thelen was a doctoral researcher at the LOEWE research cluster “Architectures of Order”.
